Image Divergence and Deformation from Closed Curves

چکیده
This paper describes a novel method to measure the differential invariants of the image velocity field from the integral of normal image velocities around image contours. This is equivalent to measuring the temporal changes in the area of a closed contour. This avoids having to recover a dense image velocity field and taking partial derivatives. It also does not require point or line correspondences. Moreover integration provides some immunity to image measurement noise. It is shown how an active observer making small, deliberate motions can use the estimates of the divergence and deformation of the image velocity field to determine the object surface orientation and time to contact. The results of real-time experiments are presented in which arbitrary image shapes are tracked using B-spline snakes and the invariants are computed efficiently as closed-form functions of the B-spline control points. This information is used to guide a robot manipulator in obstacle collision avoidance, object manipulation and navigation.

Effect of Fe additive on plastic deformation for crush-boxes with closed-cell metal foams, Part I: Al-composite foam compression response
AbstractIn this paper, we investigate effect of Fe–intermetallic compounds on plastic deformation of closed-cell composite Aluminum Foam as filler of thin-walled tubes. However, deformation of the Aluminum foam-filled thin-walled tubes as crushed-box will be presented in Part (II). Composite foams of AlSi7SiC3 and AlSi7SiC3-(Fe) as closed cell were synthesized by powder metallurgy foaming metho...
متن کاملThe Effect of Fe Additive on Plastic Deformation for Crush-Boxes with Closed-Cell Metal Foams, Part II: Al-Composite Foam-Filled brass tubes Compression Response
The brass tubes with foam cores of AlSi7SiC3, AlSi7SiC3Fe1 and AlSi7SiC3Fe3 were produced as the crush-boxes with circle and square cross-section. Then axial compressive behavior and energy absorption capability of the foam-filled tubes were investigated during the quasi-static progressive plastic buckling. The uniaxial compressive stress–strain curves of the foam-filled brass tubes exhibited t...
متن کاملA SVM model to predict the hot deformation flow curves of AZ91 magnesium alloy
Abstract In this work, a support vector machine (SVM) model was developed to predict the hot deformation flow curves of AZ91 magnesium alloy. The experimental stress-strain curves, obtained from hot compression testing at different deformation conditions, were sampled. Consequently, a data base with the input variables of the deformation temperature, strain rate and strain and the output variab...
متن کاملSketch-Based Image Editing Using Clothoid Curves
We present a sketch-based image editing technique that allows users to modify an image using a set of strokes drawn on the image. The proposed approach uses clothoid curves to beautify the sketched deformation curves. A deformation diffusion algorithm then spatially distributes the user specified deformations through out the image to produce smooth transformations from the original image to the...
متن کاملNeural Network Prediction of Warm Deformation Flow Curves in Ferrite+ Cementite Region
Many efforts have been made to model the the hot deformation (dynamic recrystallization) flow curves of different materials. Phenomenological constitutive models, physical-based constitutive models and artificial neural network (ANN) models are the main methods used for this purpose. However, there is no report on the modeling of warm deformation (dynamic spheroidization) flow curves of any kin...
